What is Prayer Ministry?

… let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
— Hebrews 12:1

When Jesus began His ministry, He stated that He came to preach the good news, to set the captive free and to heal the broken hearted. His ministry is still the same today through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Ministry Training is designed to equip believers to deal with various spiritual roadblocks and emotional wounds in their own lives and more specifically in the lives of others.

When Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb, the first thing he told the disciples was to “take off the grave clothes.” They needed to help Lazarus take off the old so that he could put on the new.

As the Holy Spirit works in believers’ lives, they often need help to apply the disciplines of confession and forgiveness in a Spirit-filled atmosphere of grace and truth in order to walk in greater personal freedom.

Learning how to hear God’s voice, walk in great truth, and help others do the same is a sure-fire way of experiencing the abundant life Jesus came to bring us.

This course will give you the tools to do this very thing for the people around you.

Briefly describe where you are in your spiritual journey.

I have been greatly blessed over the years when ministered to by the prayer ministry team at our church. Through their ministry God has brought about healing in my life: physical, emotional and spiritual. One of the areas that greatly impacted me was forgiveness...particularly in my relationship with my father. I went from hatred to forgiveness to love. I was honestly able to tell my father that I loved him before he died. I now serve on our prayer ministry team and have been overjoyed to witness miracles in peoples lives as they are being freed to become all that God intended them to be for His glory.
— Tony Resendes, Production Supervisor
We consider this teaching from Kathy Klassen on prayer ministry to be an indispensable part of the Pre-Field Orientation we provide for new International Workers. It is strong, Biblically-based teaching on the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. Kathy’s transparency encourages others to reach out for prayer to overcome their own struggles. She has also visited our overseas teams to provide teaching and discernment to address the spiritual strongholds in cross cultural ministry. We are grateful that our International Workers have a resource person such as Kathy available to them; we highly recommend her as a called and gifted servant of God.
— Judy Wiebe, Director of Member Care, Global Ministries, C&MA in Canada
Prayer Ministry Training is about equipping the Body of Christ to minister to the Body. It is a tremendous blessing for a church to have teams of people who are prepared to minister to others through prayer. The training equips an individual to serve through: In-depth teaching that brings new spiritual insight and understanding; Personal ministry that brings new spiritual freedom and healing; and Demonstration sessions that build confidence to minister by faith depending on the Holy Spirit. Pastors and ministry leaders, don’t go it alone! Build prayer teams that God will use to multiply the impact of the ministries of your church.
— Dr. Bruce Edwards, Former Senior Pastor - First Alliance, Toronto
As a counsellor, I have the privilege of assisting people to address persistent problems in living and help them make changes that will lead to long-lasting improvement in their lives. Prayer ministry compliments counselling by providing a safe place for people to confess their faults and struggles. As God’s Holy Spirit sets them free from the spiritual oppression and strongholds that may result when they are hurt by others and from responses to those hurts, participants are freed to live more fully in the identity and destiny God created them for.
— Andrea Frith, M. Div., Marriage & Family Counsellor
Prayer ministry has helped me in so many ways in my journey with God. I have been set free from Satan’s holds from my past. I have been helped to overcome my fear and truly understand that I am not alone. Jesus is with me everywhere I go. Through prayer ministry and counselling, God helped me to work through childhood abuse and it gave me strength to confront those involved. Jesus really is my Saviour and my Healer.
